With well over 10 years of construction experience, Appalachian Log & Timber Frame has the experience and expertise to provide an exciting and fulfilling construction experience.

Starting in 1995, president Nicholas Berndt began his construction career working for Formica & Associates, a consulting engineering firm located in Boca Raton, Florida. Designing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for everything from private estates to outpatient medical facilities to commercial office complexes, he learned the importance of the systems within a structure.

In 1999 Nicholas Berndt went to work for Dusenbury Architecture where he gained architectural knowledge, designing private estates along with commercial and medical structures. During the same time, he also worked for Engineering Design & Supply Inc., a structural engineering firm. Here he assisted with the structural design of large private estates and commercial structures along with completing site inspections of structural elements.

Nicholas moved to North Carolina in 2002 and opened Appalachian Development Corp., LLC. Utilizing the knowledge he gained from his previous work experience, Appalachian Development Corp., LLC provides excavation services including Development Design, Erosion Control Design, Road Construction, Utility Installation, House Site Preparation, and Septic Installation. Appalachian Development Corp., LLC was contracted immediately for all of it's services to complete a nearly 200 acre development known as the Mountain Heritage Preserve and is still providing those services to date.

In 2003, Nicholas Berndt founded Appalachian Log & Timber Frame, Inc. Realizing a huge need for quality construction and design services in the area, he provides unsurpassed quality control along with customer satisfaction. With his history of construction design, he can provide in house design services along with project management and construction of log homes, timber frame homes, and conventional homes.
